Wired's 5 Lessons TV Should Learn After Losing Heroes

You may have heard by now: season 5 is the last season of NBC's Heroes. It was a series I loved at first, but it got progressively worse from the second season onwards, spiraling through all of the horrors of reading ongoing comic books in my mind. I haven't watched Heroes since the beginning of season 3.

Wired has an interesting list of lessons TV should learn from the demise of Heroes. I agree with some of them and don't think some of the others are particularly true. One major lesson that Wired didn't mention is that you have to play with a consistent universe. I think that most of the geek TV viewers can only take a little bit of revisionism a la Final Crisis before the show gets too convoluted and improbable to believe.

Or maybe that's just me.

Number One

When you think of Star Trek: The Next Generation, you may not think of Commander Riker as the most amusing character of the series. And you're probably right... but he is more hilarious than we give him credit for.

Commander William T. Riker

Over at Number One, they're watching every episode of TNG in order and posting screenshots of Riker from each episode. The result is oddly mesmerizing and entertaining.
